"I believe mental health is a process. It takes courage to work on yourself and strength to be vulnerable with your emotions. And it takes hope to promote healing and growth."

Who am i?

Hello! My name is Victoria Aguirre. Abilene is my hometown. Growing up I have always believed that mental health matters. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate under supervision of Monica Reid, LPC-S. I earned my Bachelor's in Psychology and a minor in Criminal Justice and a Master's of Science in Counseling Psychology both from Angelo State University. Throughout college I enjoyed volunteering at Sonrisas Trails which provides therapy for people with physical, emotional, and mental challenges. I have always enjoyed working with people and helping in the local community. We go through many changes in life that affect us in different ways. We are all human and have a wide range of emotions which can be overwhelming. Although life can be challenging to manage, we are presented with opportunities to grow. My counseling style is empathetic and genuine. My goal is to provide you with a safe place to tell your story. In life’s adversities, we can develop tools to become self-aware, empowered, and resilient. I truly enjoy working with individuals on their journey to a more fulfilling and happier lifestyle.

My therapeutic approach is integrative and eclectic. I incorporate techniques and interventions from several approaches. When clients present a variety of problems then any variety of techniques are chosen to fit the needs of the client. I believe that therapy can help clients adapt to stressors in life by helping them connect, communicate, explore, and provide the necessary coping skills. Understanding and creating an atmosphere of support and empathy to be one's genuine self is important to me. Providing the opportunity for a more authentic self is a stepping stone to confidence. This allows the client to target maladaptive ways of thinking. I utilize therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy. Some humanistic approaches are also incorporated which include Gestalt, Person-Centered, and Emotion Focused Therapy. I also provide mindfulness exercises, emotional, and behavioral regulation skills. Every session will be a collaborative environment and I hope to instill confidence and growth within to promote healing, self-awareness, and self-actualization.
